What is WOPI?

Dazychain implements the Web Application Open Platform Interface (WOPI) protocol to integrate Office for the Web with Dazychain documents. The WOPI protocol lets Office for the web access and change files that are stored in the Dazychain cloud.

• Additional validation by Dazychain internal testing.
• External validation by Microsoft to be certified to join the Cloud Storage Partner Program (CSPP)

End-user tests

• Upload a document to Dazychain
• Edit it and then close the edit window
• Reload Dazychain, navigate to the document and reopen it
• Confirm your edit is there
• Reload Dazychain, navigate to the document and download it
• Confirm your edit is there

Which URLs are used? 

URLs vary depending on file type and action, but are mostly of the form:

The common part is the domain: officeapps.live.com

Where are the documents stored?

Documents are stored in S3 as with other Dazychain documents. The CSPP allows us to edit documents stored in our cloud using office applications.

Can I turn off WOPI integration for my organisation?
No, this is an integrated feature of the application.

What formats are supported?

• Word: Docx format - files ending in .docx
• Excel: Xlsx format - files ending in .xlsx
• PowerPoint: Pptx format - files ending in .pptx

Older formats such as .doc, .ppt and .xls are not supported.
Dazychain has a minimal implementation of WOPI. Functionality is limited to editing the document types listed above. Additional functionality such as document type conversion, renaming and moving documents is not currently available.
